Rui Barbosa is an associate professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra (FFUC), and principal investigator at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC-UC). Currently, he is the Coordinator of the Laboratory of Analytical and Bioanalytical Methods and Coordinator of the Bioanalytical Sciences course of the FFUC. He obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1998 at FFUC. His research is now focused on the design and development of sensors and biosensors for in vivo and ex vivo detection and monitoring of neurochemicals based on microelectrode platforms. He has authored or co-authored more than 80 articles and reviews in specialized journals, counting ca. 2000 citations and an h-factor of 28. He has supervised or co-supervised several Post-Doc, Ph.D., and MSc students. He has had grants approved as Principal Investigator and participated in many other funded projects. Over the past decades, he has been a member of the management bodies of the FFUC and was vice-dean of the Faculty and the Library of Health Sciences of the University.
