Rui Sousa took a Ph.D. course on Applied Chemistry at Universidade do Minho, following a background in this field, with a BSc in Biochemistry and a MSc in Chemical Characterization and Analysis Techniques. Before the Ph.D., he worked briefly as a Research Fellow within the project SolSensors, funded by FCT. His work includes the synthesis and characterization of new organic molecules, the synthesis and characterization of novel organic-inorganic hybrids by the sol-gel method, antifouling compounds sensing, and optical fiber sensors. His background provided well-balanced knowledge and expertise within the chemistry field.
