Laura C. J. Pereira graduated in Technological Chemistry in 1989, completed her MSc in Physical and Chemistry of Materials in 1993 and her PhD degree (summa cum laude) in Inorganic Chemistry in 1998 in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. She is principal researcher in IST since December 2015. Her knowledge field is Exact Sciences - Chemical Sciences within the main scientific areas of research, Solid State Chemistry and Chemical Physics. Her work is focused on the correlation between structure and the magnetic properties in new advanced materials, smart metal oxide-based nanostructures, multifunctional molecular-based compounds, and intermetallics with 3d and f-element (lanthanides and/or actinides). She is responsible for the Magnetic Characterization Facility of the Low Temperature and High Magnetic Fields Laboratory (LTHMFL) of IST. Member of Centro de Ciências e Tecnologias Nucleares (C2TN) of the University of Lisbon, in the Advanced Materials domain. Since 2016 she teaches at Instituto Superior Técnico, the course "Electrical and Magnetic Properties of Materials" for the Advanced Studies Diploma in Chemistry (PhD) at the Chemical Engineering Dept., and since 2021/2022 the courses "Functional Materials" and Materials for Electronics and Optoelectronics¿, of the Materials Engineering MSc. To date, she is co-author of more than 169 research papers, cited in International Data Bases (Scopus, ISI Web of Knowledge) and 4 book chapters. More than 2750 citations, h-index=28, Orcid ID: 0000-0002-8818-0039. She was IP of 3 and co-member of other 19 national research projects. To date she has supervised 4 PhD and 3 MSc thesis to completion and currently supervises/co-supervises 4 PhD and 2 MSc students. Since January 2021 she is the leader of the Solid State Group of C2TN and member of the Coordinating Committee of C2TN. Representative of the European Institute of Molecular Magnetism in IST/Lisbon University since August 2022. Since January 2023 member of the Executive Committee and of the Scientific Pedagogic Committee of the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Engineering of IST.
