Carla Leite holds a PhD in Biology and Ecology of Global Changes, a MSc in Toxicology and Ecotoxicology, and a BSc in Marine Sciences, all from the University of Aveiro. In 2026, she completed professional training in Laboratory Accreditation according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. Her expertise focuses on the assessment of biochemical, histopathological, and physiological responses in economically and ecologically relevant marine invertebrates. She has developed strong technical skills in sample preparation and acid digestion across diverse matrices, as well as in the quantification of trace elements using analytical techniques such as ICP, CV-AFS, and AAS. Carla held a research grant at the Central Laboratory of Analysis, University of Aveiro (2025–2026), and a previous research grant at the Department of Biology, University of Aveiro (2018–2019). She is the author/co-author of 40 ISI-indexed publications, 16 oral communications, and 7 poster communications. Her research interests focus on understanding the ecotoxicological effects of emerging contaminants on marine invertebrates of ecological and economic importance, particularly under the influence of climate change-related stressors.
