Mª Elvira Franco Gil fills the position of Ph.D. Assistant Professor with habilitation at the Department of Pharmaceutics and Food Technology at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) [1]. She is a member of the UCM 910939 research group “Formulation and Bioavailability of new pharmaceuticals” [2] and a member of the University Institute of Industrial Pharmacy (IUFI) [3]. As a result, She performs teaching (bachelor´s degree and master's) and research activities in the academic and industrial fields. Currently, She is participating in a competitive call of the Spanish State, funded by the European Union, which finances her scientific stay (one-year duration) in Lisbon [4]. She focuses on semisolid pharmaceutical preparations for topical skin administration. Especially: formulation, elaboration, and evaluation (stability and release) of emulsions and gels. She has been in charge of nine editions of the master subject: “Percutaneous administration forms for topical and systemic action“. She conducted research work for R&D companies under a confidentiality agreement. After obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (UCM, 1990), She combined maternity, Ph.D. studies (UCM, 2007), and professional experience: assistant in a pharmacy, health visitor technician, technician of the Industrial Biotransformations Service (in the Madrid Science Park Foundation), teacher of training courses (in Institut Univ. De Ciència i Tecnología, S.A.) and temporary Titular Professor in the Complutense University of Madrid.
