I graduated in Industrial Chemistry (2006/UA) and completed my MSc in Analytical Chemistry (2007/UA). I completed the PhD in Nanosciences & Nanotechnology (2013/UA) under nanocomposites for SERS. Over this time, I developed vast chemical synthesis experience of composites, metal colloids, and biodetection. My research was recognized by Phantoms Foundation, receiving the Imaginenano Nanospain Conf. Travel Award/2011 and TNT2012 Fees Award/2012. From 2014 to 2017, I received a FCT postdoc fellowship to begin a research line at CICECO that combines nanomaterials chemical synthesis and Raman spectroscopy applied to sustainable nanotechnologies. I have developed non-trivial Raman methods for nanoscale characterization in an analytical chemistry context applied to health/environmental sectors. I have been the principal Researcher of the first RCM/AFM (WITec alpha300 RAS+). Since December 2017, I have been a contracted researcher at CICECO. In the last 5 years (2014-present, with 4+5 months gaps for maternity leave), I supervised 12 graduate students, a research student (2017) and 4 MSc students (FAME Master-2015; Chemistry-2019; 2 ongoings). My work was published in reputable journals on Materials Chemistry (Talanta IF=5.3, Analyst IF=3.9) and specialized journals (J Raman Spectrosc). My work on Raman imaging applied to dyeing textiles fibres was internationally recognized by WITec Silver Award-2017 for original/innovative research using RCM, Royal Society of Chemistry-journal cover (Phys Chem Chem Phys IF=3.4), and recently, a collaborative paper with TEMA was selected for journal cover (Macromol. Biosci. 2021). I have 18 papers as first author (13 as the corresponding author), including a book chapter (IntechOpen), 35 collaborative papers in several areas (catalyze, water quality monitoring, medicine), in which 9 are without the PhD supervisor, and 1 as an independent researcher, a submitted national patent under the subject of paper-based SERS substrates for water quality monitoring (2020). I made 12 oral communications (2 invited talk (2020, 2022) and a keynote/2022). Since 2019, I have started pioneer research on the use of 2D materials, namely, transition metal dichalcogenides, as new sensors for optical detection in healthcare applications and water quality monitoring in collaboration with Professor Akinwande (TU Austin/USA). At that time, I have set up an interdisciplinary team composed of two young researchers (degrees in biotechnology; biochemistry) and 3 master students (biotechnology, chemical engineering and mechanical engineering). In 2022, I was awarded the Best Scientific project 2022 Award by CICECO-UA (20k€). I have also been developing international research with Glasgow University and Leipzig University in 3D printing graphene-based materials for water quality monitoring. I have collaborated with international scientific groups (Spain, Italy, Austria) and contributed to a co-promotion project with Bosch Termotechnology S.A composed of an interdisciplinary team and to a European Project (NeuroStimSpinal Project). I have participated in research training on WITec Headquarters in Ulm/Germany (2014,2019) and a summer school (Cost Action/2021 ONLINE). I was a member of an international academic PhD jury (UAMadrid/2019). I am currently a Topic Editor of Sensors ((ISSN 1424-8220), Guest Editor of the Special Issues: Nanostructured Materials Systems for Optical Sensing/Sensors (2020-22) and Recent Developments in Platforms for SERS Applications/ Chemosensors (2021-22), and member of the Reviewer Board of Biosensors (ISSN 2079-6374). I have participated in the radio broadcasting "Os Dias do Futuro-A investigação e a inovação" concerning Nanotechnology application into the textile industry. Overall, I have co-authored 54 papers in SCI-indexed journals and 1 book chapter, summing ~830 citations and an h-index 15 (Scopus).
