Zohar Tal is a neuroscientist whose research explores the fundamental principles of brain organization, particularly topographic processing and its plasticity in different sensory and cognitive conditions. With a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Neurobiology) from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, her work has spanned multiple domains, from neural plasticity in the cerebellum to multisensory integration and sensorimotor processing using advanced fMRI techniques. Her research has demonstrated the importance of topographic organization in both unimodal and cross-modal processing, as well as its clinical relevance in sensory dysfunctions. Currently an Auxiliary Researcher and a Lecturer at the University of Coimbra, she plays a key role in the ContentMAP ERC project, applying her expertise to study the topography of object knowledge and cross-modal plasticity. She has published in leading journals, co-supervised graduate students, and contributed to the scientific community through teaching, mentoring, and international collaborations. Committed to knowledge dissemination, she actively engages in public science outreach and curriculum development. Her work is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, integrating neuroscience, psychology, and computational modeling to advance our understanding of brain organization and its adaptability.
