I have studied at the KU Leuven, Belgium (i.e., BSc in Psychology, 2014-2018; MSc in Clinical and Health Psychology; cum laude; 2018-2020) and the ISCTE ¿ University Institute Lisbon, Portugal (i.e., MSc in Psychology of Intercultural Relations; 18/20; 2020-2022). During the latter, I have participated in a (remote) Erasmus exchange program at the University of Oslo, Norway (01/2021-06/2021). My thesis at KUL was part of an extensive PhD project in the field of instructed second language acquisition research combined with methods of cognitive psychology (EEG), i.e., 'The Impact of L2 Word-Focused Instruction on Meaning Acquisition as Measured with Event-Related Potentials through a Semantic Relatedness Task. Does the Word Order Matter?' (16/20). My thesis at ISCTE was in the field of social class and intergroup relations and is currently prepared for publication, i.e., 'Feeling, Thinking, Acting: The Role of Subjective Social Class and Social Class Identity on Emotions, Attitudes and Prosocial Behavior towards Muslim Immigrants in Belgium' (19/20). I worked as research assistant and intern at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF), where I contributed to a project investigating how threat scenarios, i.e., islamist terror incidents, influence national and European identities. I collected and reviewed literature, designed, prepared, conducted and pre-processed several focus groups and expert interviews to compare Germany and Belgium through a multi-method approach, and participated in research group meetings together with sociopsychological and political science researchers (04/2021-12/2021). I also completed an 8-month internship in the day clinic of the psychiatric department of the general hospital of Lier, Belgium, where I worked in a multidisciplinary team and independently performed, among others, group therapy (systemic and integrative approach), individual counselling, assessment (e.g., intakes), report, psychoeducation (e.g., on emotions, stress reduction and sleep hygiene), relaxation training (e.g., mindfulness and meditation) and organized educative events for families and the public (09/2019-05/2020). Furthermore, I completed a 2-months internship at Centre for Mental Health Care (CGG) ¿Vagga¿, in Antwerp, Belgium, where I observed intakes and therapy sessions with children & their parents from various cultural and religious backgrounds (specifically Muslim and Jewish families), scored test material and participated in team meetings and case discussions (02/2018-03/2018). Additionally, I volunteered for Collective Aid (CA), an NGO supporting refugees on-the-move in Belgrade, Serbia. At CA, I worked with refugees and homeless locals and coordinated activities in the WASH centre, as well as developed a toolkit on retraumatization and PTSD for other volunteers to use while taking border violence reports (08/2021-10/2021). Up to this day, I still sporadically work as a mental health professional for the NGO. Since February 2023, I am a member of ¿Humans Before Borders¿, a Portugal-based collective working to support refugees via a variety of collective actions. I speak German, English and Dutch fluently (mother tongue or C2), while continuously working on my Portuguese (~B1). Currently, I am a PhD student researcher at CIS_ISCTE, investigating a project concerning social inequality and intergroup relations, i.e., the relationships between and impact of social class, prosocial behavior and (de)humanization. Furthermore, I have my own private practice, offering counselling to a people with a variety of issues. I aim to develop a career as an intercultural researcher on intergroup relations, as well as a clinical psychologist with intercultural speciality supporting people in vulnerable situations.
