Experienced researcher on organic electronics with a good understanding of materials, nanotechnology and advanced applications (flexible, transparent and wearable). A background on chemistry and materials science, with a good and solid insight of correlating solid-state materials structure and design with electronic and magnetic properties, a broad knowledge on material properties and potential applications, allowed me to achieve the actual positions of researcher at INESC MN, one of the reference institutes in nanotechnology in Portugal, being responsible for creating and leading the organic electronics line of research. I am also an invited lecturer at University of Lisbon, the highest international ranked Portuguese university. The international experience and roles in different scientific institutions has enabled me to establish a broad scientific network. I have supervised 6 post-doc students, 5 PhD students, 11 research students, 8 master students and co-supervisor of a post-doc student with an EPSRC grant. Currently, I have 13 funded projects as PI or Co-PI, six collaboration projects from FCT, 5 industry collaboration project and another for international exchanges from the Royal Society. I am a member of a Cost Action. I am an expert evaluator of European proposals (26 evaluations Marie Curie, ICT, NMP), and UK, Poland, Netherlands, Norway, Czech Republic, and Spain national programs. I have presently 3 patent and 55 published papers in high quality international journals such as Nature Materials, Nature Communications, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Advanced Functional Materials, Journal of Material Chemistry, or Chemical Communications (h-index = 21, 1760 citations on ISI). 35 were published independently from the PhD supervisor and I have been the main or corresponding author of 21 papers in major scientific journals including Nature Materials and Nature Communications. I am editor at Scientific Reports. I provided 99 presentations in international conferences (70 oral including E-MRS, MRS2016, SPIE2016 or ICSM 2016) and given 31 invited lectures in international conferences and universities abroad. I am an editor of Scientific Reports. My recent work has been directed towards to design electronic devices and carbon nanomaterials for health and energy applications. I have been engaged in several outreach activities, visiting schools and promoting science related activities.
