Gunnar Rekvig, with a Ph.D. in International and Regional Studies from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) and an MPhil degree in Peace and Conflict Transformation from UiT The Arctic University of Norway, brings a unique perspective to the study of Asia, Iberia, and Latin America. As a former Assistant Professor at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, he contributed significantly to the World Language and Society Education Center, Tokyo, Japan. His extensive lecturing experience in Japan, addressing institutions such as the United Nations University, Japanese Military Colleges, and the Japanese Defense Ministry, demonstrates a nuanced understanding of the geopolitical landscape. Rekvig's role as a political advisor for Upper House Members of the Japanese Diet, where he advocated for Japan's constitutional peace clause, Article 9, aligns with the series' focus on historical interactions and peace dynamics. Gunnar Rekvig is currently serving as an associate professor in international politics at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Rekvig's research, focusing on the international politics of the Nordic Arctic (North Atlantic and Barents Regions), Japan, China and Central America, offers historical and contemporary insights into peace and trust-building.
