M. Starykevich graduated in industrial Chemical Engineering from the Belarusian State Technological University, Minsk, Belarus in 2011. After graduation, M. Starykevich moved to University of Aveiro, Portugal. In 2013 he was enrolled in a doctoral program in Material Science in the same university. He obtained PhD degree in Materials Science, with distinction, from the University of Aveiro in July 2017. PhD research activity of M. Starykevich related to the area of electrochemical surface modification and corrosion protection. Part of this work was awarded by honor distinction for the poster at XVI IME & XIX SPE meeting in 2014 and by CNMAT2018 best poster prize. In 2013, M. Starykevich participated in advanced GDOES training which was held in HORIBA Jobin Yvon S.A.S. (France). In 2015 he attended lectures at the 7th ESSEE (Netherland). In 2016, he gave courses (GDOES technique) at the Multifunctional Smart Coating and Surfaces Summer School (Portugal). Since October 2017, Dr. Starykevich joined the Materials for Energy and Functional Surfaces research group at the CICECO ¿ Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, as a post-doctoral researcher. Currently, he is carried own research in the frame of individual grant CEEC2020 (2020.00625.CEECIND, funded by FCT). His research activities is focused on preparation of membranes based on oxide ion conductors with carbonates eutectics and their detailed characterization. During this time, he accomplished the preparation of composites based on CGO and ternary carbonate eutectic and studies of their properties. Investigation of advanced separation membranes (fabrication, detailed characterization, studies of permeation mechanism) are currently in progress. The results obtained during recent work in the solid-state electrochemistry field are already presented in number of international conferences and published in high impact journals. In December 2018, he had internship in the group of Prof. Metcalfe¿s (Newcastle University), one of the leaders in the area of solid oxide membranes. The new experience in composite materials expanded his research interests which currently include solid state chemistry, electrochemistry, gas separation membranes, ionic conductors and nanomaterials. He is qualified in SEM and TEM, GDOES, electrical measurements, different electrochemical techniques including EIS, inorganic and organic synthesis. His new experimental skills include ceramic processing, fabrication of composite membranes, and gas permeation studies through dense inorganic membranes. Dr. Starykevich co-authored 46 papers in international SCI journals. He is the first author in 2 of them and the first+corresponding author in another 4. As of March 2024, his publications gained more than 1000 citations (h-index 15) demonstrating an acknowledgement of his work by scientific community. Dr. Starykevich personally contributed 8 oral presentations, including 2 invited talk, and circa 10 poster presentations at the international conferences and congresses. He was supervisor of two students. Additionally, he is active reviewer in several SCI journals including Electrochimica Acta. In 2018 he became the youngest scientist awarded the Young Researcher in Electrochemistry prize by Portuguese Electrochemical Society. In 2021 he gained CICECO Junior researcher award which is highlighted one more time his potential and efficiency.
