Kristin Hoefener is a researcher at CESEM (University Nova) in Lisbon and associated with IReMus (Sorbonne University) in Paris. She holds a doctorate in musicology from the University of Würzburg (Germany) and a double master's degree in musicology (University of Amsterdam) and medieval history (EPHE, Paris). She has been a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at University Nova (2021-23). Her research focuses on medieval sacred chant and its firm anchoring in historical, hagiographic, and liturgical contexts, as well as on gender and innovation processes (liturgical reforms, innovation in musical notation, composition of new chants, compilation of cycles with new and old elements). Recent publications include a monograph on liturgical offices and the cult of Saint Ursula (Schöningh, 2022) and articles in Textus&Musica (2021, 2022), Kurtrierisches Jahrbuch (2021), Kirchenhistorisches Jahrbuch (2020). She is the founder and artistic director of the ensemble Kantika, which specializes in medieval music.
