Carlos Benítez Trinidad has a co-tutorship PhD by the Federal University of Bahia (BR) and the Pablo de Olavide University (SP), defended in April 2017 and funded by the Brazilian agency CAPES. He is also a graduate in history from the University of Cádiz and has a master's degree in American Studies from the University of Seville, the research for the dissertation was funded by the International Cooperation Office of that university. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela with a contract funded by the Xunta de Galicia, and a fellow researcher at the CHAM-Nova University of Lisbon. He has published several scientific papers, a book, coordinated another, dissemination articles and online resources. Founder and member of the Editorial Board of the Iberoamérica Social journal-network in social studies; coordinator at História em Quarentena and member of the Main Board of História da Ditadura. He has participated and organized academic events in European and Latin American institutions. His fields of research are contemporary history, social and cultural history, comparative history, cross-cultural studies and postcolonial studies. His lines of research deal with the study of the representation of otherness in the imaginary of the dominating societies during the colonialism and post-colonialism of the twentieth century, especially in the Portuguese-speaking Atlantic space. Specialist in the indigenous issue of Brazil and decolonial thinking.
