After graduating in Physics in 2011 from the University of Lisbon, I obtained an MSc in Astronomy in 2013 and a PhD in Astronomy in 2018, both from the University of Porto. I continued my career in Porto as a researcher at the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (IA). In 2019, after a competitive selection process, I was awarded a 6-year research contract at IA to detect and study low-mass exoplanets. Recently, I was offered a research position at the Geneva Observatory where I am working on high-precision radial velocity surveys and statistical models for disentangling stellar activity from planets. I am co-author of 79 peer-reviewed articles in international journals which total 1470 citations. I am first author of 6 peer-reviewed articles with a total of 163 citations and 4 self-citations. I am the PI of an Exploratory Project about stellar activity modelling, approved in the 2021 Call for Project Grants from FCT. I am a collaborator of the ESPRESSO international consortium since 2018 and current leader of the Working Group 1. Within this collaboration, I am mainly involved in the analysis of RV datasets within the blind-search and transit follow-up programs. I am also involved in several other international observing programs using data from ESPRESSO and other high-resolution spectrographs like HARPS and CARMENES. This includes an international consortium (KOBE) where I am part of the executive board. I gave three invited/review talks at international conferences and several other contributed talks. I also enjoy teaching: I was recently in charge of lecturing a PhD-level course on exoplanets and have created and lectured several advanced courses on topics such as statistics and programming. I give several public outreach talks every year, and I am often involved in press releases and communication with the media. Most recently, the discovery of a third planetary candidate orbiting Proxima Centauri gathered substantial attention from the media, including a press release issued by the European Southern Observatory, and several news stories in Portuguese and international media outlets.
