I took my BSc degree in Biochemistry and Food Chemistry at University of Aveiro (UA) in 2008, soon after, I done my MSc in Organic Chemistry and Natural Products at UA (2009), been my master thesis title -Studies of Heck reaction of 3-bromoflavones with styrenes-. In 2010, I was awarded with a research grant that allow me to continue my investigation on synthesis and preparation of new flavonoids derivatives at the Professor Artur Silva group. Later, I was awarded a PhD fellowship in chemistry by FCT (SFRH/BD/68991/2010) where I worked on -Synthesis and transformation of chromones and 4-quinolones-. In September 2016, I started a research fellow for three months, that consisted in synthesis and chemical characterization of pyrazoles, bis-pyrazoles and 1,2-di-hydropyridines. Posteriorly, I worked on DRUGORGINORG project (PT-DZ/0005/2015) where my investigation focus on evaluation of anticancer and anti-tumour effects of organic chemotypes. Between December 2018-Jule 2022, I was junior researcher in the Team of Prof. João Mano on the SUPRASORT and COP2P projects . I worked on chemical functionalization of polymers (natural polysaccharides and proteins) and DNA nucleobases to be used in production biomaterials for biomedical applications. Since February 2023, I am the research member of G-Cork project where I development my investigation on quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensors for volatile compounds detection in cork. During my scientific career I had two period of scientific interruption due to maternity (2015 and 2020). I did not develop any laboratory activity, mentoring/ tutoring/ supervision student. Both interruptions had great impact in scientific and pedagogic career (number, planning and quality). I have been synthesized around 170 nitrogen and oxigen derivatives and structurally characterized mainly by Proton and Carbon Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H and 13C NMR) and Mass spectroscopy (MS). My PhD thesis was distinguished by the honourable mention in Portuguese Award for best PhD Thesis in Organic Chemistry 2017. The investigation developed during my PhD and years before allowed me to deepen in a further robust way my taste and knowledge in chemical modification and structural characterization of polyphenolics compounds, as well as developing my skills as organic chemist. In 2017, the project DRUGORGINORG allowed me to work in biology science, more precisely in anticancer evaluation of synthetic compounds. I worked at the Institute of Biomedicine (iBiMED) in cell culture and was responsible for the in vitro testing of many compounds (around 70) in 2 breast cancer cell lines (MDA-MB-231) and 1 prostate cancer cell line (PC3). I acquired skills and knowledge in cytotoxicity assays, cycle analysis, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. This period was very rich and fascinating for me. As Junior researcher I work in chemical functionalization and structural characterization of laminarin, chitosan, hyaluronic acid, peptides, collagen and DNA nucleobases. Once structurally modified these molecules are used in production biomaterials (hydrogels, membranes) using light (photo-crosslinking), temperature or pH for biomedical applications. Different techniques are used for structural characterization such as RMN, FTIR, UV-Vis, SEM as well as their mechanical and chemical properties using equipment like Instron and Rheometer (viscosity, young's modulus) and swealing behaviour. I do also develop some management work as CO-PI of Suprasort project. In terms of academic work, I am mentoring students and researchers, I supervise 1 BSc and 1 MSc students as co-advisor, I lectured on experimental classes of organic/bioorganic chemistry in Department of Chemistry at UA and was jury of academic degree (Master thesis, seminar and BSc project). Since 2015, I published 14 scientific papers, 1 Portuguese patent (nº 118039), another one submitted, 2 book chapter, 10 oral/poster communications and I am reviewer of journal papers.

The structure of flavones and N-glucosamine was functionalyzed with specific terminal (alkene, and halogen) for doing the coupling reaction between these scaffolds.
