Dominik is a dedicated researcher with a background in biology and social ecology. His expertise spans diverse sociocultural contexts, where he has explored resource utilization, sustainability transitions, and transdisciplinary processes. During his doctoral studies, Dominik played a pivotal role in co-managing a long-term transdisciplinary project situated on the Greek island Samothraki. This experience shaped his ability to navigate complex research landscapes and foster collaboration across disciplinary boundaries. Since 2023, Dominik has been a member of the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment, and Development (MED) at the University of Évora. Here, he continues to leverage his inter- and transdisciplinary skills to contribute meaningfully to the institute's mission. His work at the institute is dedicated to the role of energy infrastructures in shaping land systems, the role of biotechnology in food production, and social capital as means to develop prosper rural areas. By integrating insights from biology and social ecology, Dominik strives to develop innovative solutions that address pressing challenges facing Mediterranean communities. Dominik's contributions to the field have been recognized through prestigious awards and research grants, including the 5th edition of the FCT CEEC, a nomination of his PhD for the BOKU sustainability award 2021, and the Marietta Blau Stipendium in 2019. These recognitions underscore his commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering sustainable development. As a researcher, Dominik remains deeply engaged in both theoretical inquiries and practical applications, seeking to bridge the gap between academia and real-world impact. Through his continuous advancement of understanding complex socio-ecological systems, his career shows the power of interdisciplinary research in shaping a more sustainable and resilient future for societies around the world.
