I earned my PhD degree in Biology and Ecology of Global Changes in 2019. I work mostly in biology of stress, studying biochemical, physiological and metabolic mechanisms of response to environmental challenges of different organisms, - bacteria, plants and animals. I am especially interested in the mechanisms of tolerance to abiotic stress, and how this knowledge can be applied to improve natural and production systems resilience to global changes. My expertise lies mainly in metabolomics and in the study of the role and applications of volatile organic compounds of biological origin in the environmental area. I have authored/co-authored 15 articles in international peer reviewed journals and 1 book chapter. The journal impact factors range up to 9.038 (2019 Journal of Hazardous Materials). My research has been cited 158 times and I have an h-index of 8 (Scopus). My research has been presented in 10 oral presentations and 8 poster communications. I am the main supervisor of a PhD student and co-supervise another PhD student, both with scholarhips from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, Portugal. I also supervise/co-supervise five Master students. I teach disciplines (Biochemistry and Metabolism I, Biochemistry and Metabolism II and Themes and Laboratories of Biology) of University of Aveiro undergraduate degrees . I have organized and lectured in advanced courses on Metabolomics and also on R data analysis. My research has been featured on TV (RTP3), radio (e.g. 90 s de Ciência) , in several mainstream newspapers (e.g. Jornal de Negócios) and in specialized magazines (e.g. Frutas, Flores e Legumes). I have organized and participated activities to disseminate scientific knowledge such as World Soil Day 2019.
