Márcia Alexandra Dias Braz

Márcia Alexandra Dias Braz started her PhD in 2020 being currently in the fourth year of the PhD in Biology at the University of Aveiro working on phage therapy, an alternative therapy to antibiotics, to inactivate food pathogens. Márcia Braz has a vast knowledge in Microbiology and in Medical and Health Sciences. In 2017, she completed her Degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Beira Interior with the final classification of 16/20, being recognized with a merit certificate. In 2019, she completed her Master's degree in Microbiology at the University of Aveiro, under guidance of Professor Adelaide Almeida (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8422- 8664) and Doctor Ana Gomes (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3201-0081) with the final classification of 18/20. Her thesis entitled "Photoinactivation of MRSA on skin: effect of potassium iodide and iodopovidone as potentiators of a porphyrinic formulation", merits the classification of 19/20. During the Master's degree period she participated in several activities that contributed to the enrichment of her knowledge in the Microbiology area, including attending the Advanced Course on "Antibiotic Alternatives Against Pathogenic Bacteria", acquiring knowledge in Phage Therapy and in Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy. Márcia Braz is the author of two original articles (10.1016/j.pdpdt.2020.101754; 10.3390/microorganisms10030593), one proceeding paper (10.3390/ECA2021-09612) and co-author of other three articles (10.3390/antibiotics11020163; 10.3390/antibiotics10080974; 10.1016/j.foodhyd.2023.108934). Márcia Braz is also author of thirteen posters and seven oral communications and co-author of four poster communications and two oral communications presented at national and international meetings. Márcia Braz was awarded with two attendance grants by the European Society for Photobiology and the International Society for Viruses of Microorganisms to attend the 17th International Congress on Photobiology / 18th Congress of the European Society for Photobiology, ESP-IUPB World Congress and the conference Viruses of Microbes 2023, respectively.
