Erik Teixeira Lopes, graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Brasilia, is currently a PhD student in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Minho. He was organizational president and project manager at Concreta Consultoria e Serviços. Later, he worked in management and technology consulting at EloGroup, with a focus on developing public policies for telemedicine and implementing technology solutions in Brazil¿s public and private institutions. He acted as a researcher on the scientific initiation project "Active learning methodologies: a proposal for introducing innovative concepts in civil engineering education", under the guidance of Professor Dr. André Aquere. In the field of engineering education, he developed his dissertation, which was published as a book chapter by IGI Global, entitled "A Scrum-Based Classroom Model for Learning Project Management", approved with the highest grade by all members of the evaluation committee. He also presented two papers at the PAEE/ALE 2021 conference on active learning. Currently, he is working on projects related to healthcare operations management, lean healthcare, and Industry 4.0, having published the article "Application of Heijunka for Surgical Production Leveling" in IJCIEOM 2022, which was selected as the best publication of the event. He also has two publications under review, one in the submission process, and two been produced. He is currently participating in the research projects "ERASMUS+ ReCap 4.0 - Reinforcing Non-University Sector at the Tertiary Level in Engineering and Technology to Support Thailand Sustainable Smart Industry", focused on Industry 4.0, EGALITARIAN - Education, Digitalisation and Collaboration for Sustainability, and PBL4TEA - PBL Framework for Digital Collaborative Teacher Training. In terms of professional qualifications, he holds certifications in "Delivery Specialist - Outsystems", "Certified Cloud Practitioner - AWS", and "Business Analyst - Automation Anywhere". He also has knowledge of project management, agile methodologies, lean six-sigma, programming, requirements specification, and data analysis. He has experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and more than 10 years of experience in teaching martial arts. He also served as a tutor for courses during his undergraduate studies at the University of Brasilia.
