João Pedro Dias Pinto completed his PhD in Chemistry in March of 2025 at University of Aveiro, following earlier academic training that provided a solid foundation in environmental sciences. His research profile is strongly interdisciplinary, bridging environmental chemistry, materials science, and sustainable process engineering. Throughout his career, João Pinto has authored 46 peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals, accumulating 950 citations and an h-index of 16. He has actively contributed to the scientific community through participation in national and international conferences, as well as through the organization of scientific seminars and workshops. He has also been invited to present his work in several academic events like seminars and workshops, reflecting not only the recognition of his research, but also his interest in sharing and discussing his results with other researchers. His research focuses on the development of sustainable technologies for metal recovery and recycling from secondary resources, including fluorescent lamp waste and lithium-ion batteries. In particular, his work in metal separation has explored adsorption-based technologies and solvent extraction systems using Deep Eutectic Solvents, aiming to combine high separation efficiency with reduced environmental impact. His broader scientific interests include circular economy strategies, critical raw materials recovery, and the design of greener separation processes for industrial and environmental applications.
