Cristina M. Cordas (CMC) main scientific area is Chemistry and Biochemistry with emphasis in Electrochemistry. CMC has a Degree in Chemistry and a Master degree in Applied Electrochemistry (FCUL, Portugal), (supervision Luísa Abrantes). CMC concluded her PhD in Biochemistry, in 2007, at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia (FCT NOVA). She was awarded with a Post-Doctoral Position at IST-UL, in the Biotechnology Eng. Dep., iBB, in the Enzyme Engineering group. In 2009, she won an Assistant Researcher position at FCT-NOVA (UCIBIO), in the Molecular Biophysics group (2009-2014), where she developed independent research. Currently, CMC is a PhD contracted Researcher by FCT NOVA, member of LAQV, REQUIMTE (Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry-LAQV- of the Network of Chemistry and Technology (REQUIMTE), FCT-NOVA). Publications: 56 publications (Web of Science), (Scopus: 47 papers, 4 book chapters, 2 conference papers), besides conference abstracts and panel communications (more than 60), from these 29 peer-reviewed articles from 2018 till-present date (85% in Q1 journals). Corresponding author in 15 papers (11 in the last 5 years), in peer-reviewed international journals. CMC has more than 25 oral communications (national and international) in conferences and workshops, including invited keynotes. CMC has published science dissemination papers in magazines (5) and was editor of a Special Issue (Applied Sciences, SI: Novel Redox Biomaterials and Their Applications (2022)), being currently co-editor of thes special issue (Applied Sciences, SI: "Metal Coordination Complexes: Sustainable Compounds and Methodologies for Relevant Applications"). CMC, index h =15 (47 records, Scopus) or h=17 (62 records, Google Scholar, hi10=25), citations: 642 (Scopus) and 842 (GoogleScholar). CMC has vast supervision experience of undergraduate, graduated, PhD and Post-doctoral students and research fellows (1 PhD, 8 master degree students, 18 undergraduate students final projects, 3 graduated research fellows, post-doc researchers (2)); she has also collaborated in the supervision of other PhD students' studies. CMC was a lecturer in Bioelectrochemistry course (from 2009-2014) and other biochemical and biophysical related courses since 2005-current date at FCT-NOVA. CMC was PI in 2 Projects (w/ total funding more than 375.000,00 euros) and she is/was member of 16 Project teams (14 national; 4 European); CMC has experience in scientific, teams and financial management. CMC has also experience in evaluation committees (Juries for Graduation, Master and PhD academic degrees; grants and fellowships' calls), evaluation of projects' committees, conference scientific and organization committees. She is reviewer of several high reputation scientific journals and participates in science dissemination activities and technology transfer. Current scientific interests are: - Electrochemistry and Physical Biochemistry, in particular bioelectrochemistry; green hydrogen, biosensors/biomarkers; electroanalytical techniques; - Electrocatalysis, interfacial properties, kinetics and enzymatic mechanisms; - Denitrification, Electroactive Biofilms, Microbial and Enzymatic Fuel Cells; - Conducting polymers and new biocompatible materials (e.g. based on hydrogels; ionic liquids). More recently, she has dedicated particular interest in: a) non-invasive detection of human biomarkers for in-situ diagnosis, b) novel bioelectrochemical routes for lignocellulose degradation and valuable compounds selective production (by direct electrochemical control of enzymatic catalytic reactions in cascade) and c) Sustainable (bio)energy.
