Sara Biscaia holds a degree in Biomechanics (2008) and Masters in Engineering Design and Product Development (2011), both from Polytechnic of Leiria. During the master degree, she developed a strong interest in Biomaterials and 3D Printing technologies, with a dissertation entitled “Production and characterization of Laminaria hyperborean alginate matrices for Tissue Engineering applications”. In 2009, she started working has a research fellow and more recently has a research intern in the Research Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP) of Polytechnic of Leiria. Thereby, she is involved in the development of research projects with industries and national and international research centres and writing project applications. Additionally, she accomplish tasks as laboratory technician of the Biofabrication Laboratory at CDRSP. She has published 1 book chapter, authored and co-authored more than 20 articles in international journals and international conferences and 2 patents. She has dedicated her research activity to topics related with biofabrication techniques for medical applications, materials characterisation, biomaterials and Tissue engineering.
