Curriculum Vitae

Sara Santos

Currently I am a Researcher at University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) and an assistant professor at University Institute of Maia (ISMAI). I completed my MSc in Sport and Physical Education in 2012 and PhD in 2018 in Sport Sciences at UTAD. I did a Specialization in Physical Activity and Health at Faculty of Sport in Porto University (FADEUP) whereas I participated in an International extended course entitled "Best Practice in Childhood, Physical Activity and Health" hold at the University of Southern Denmark. Since 2018, I am an integrated member of the Research Center in Sports Sciences, Health Sciences and Human Development (CIDESD). My research interests are to explore the influence of enrichment environments to nurture the creative behavior in youth. I completed my PhD in 2018 supported by FCT and have since completed two postdoctoral grants. In 2019, I was awarded two Honorable Mentions for achieving high-level standards as young researcher. In less than 7 years, I have published 17 articles in well-respected SSC-indexed peer-reviewed journals, co-authored 4 book chapters, 2 books, have presented my work in more than 30 national and international congresses and participated as a keynote speaker in International CIDESD 2019 Congress. In 2016, I was awarded the best oral communication at the CIDESD 2016 International Congress. I have submitted 11 research projects as head-researcher and collaborated in 12 research projects. In this vein, I awarded a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Seal of Excellence. Meanwhile, I developed a pioneering training programme, the Skills4genius®, intended to nurture creativity through sports in primary school-aged children. Recently, my first community project as PI, the Skills4genius® Academy, secured funding from the renowned Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and in 2020 was elected a Reference Academy. In addition, I am the 2018 recipient of the Ruth B. Noller Award, supported by the most recognised studies centre of creativity, the Creative Education Foundation, USA. In September 2020, I was awarded with the first prize in the Sports Psychology and Pedagogy Category supported by the Olympic Committee of Portugal. Since 2018, I have been providing long-term consultant services to the English Football Association in the Advanced Youth Award Course at St Georges Park. Further, I supervised a Science and Technology Grant, co-supervised 1 degree and 2 MSc students to completion, while 3 are undergoing. Currently, I am the supervisor of a doctoral student.
