Bruno M. Guerreiro is an internationally awarded cryobiologist. He graduated with honors from the NOVA University of Lisbon School of Science and Technology with a Biochemistry B.Sc. in 2016 (summa cum laude), a Biochemistry M.Sc. in 2018 (summa cum laude) and a Biochemistry & Biophysics Ph.D. in 2024 (unanimous decision). Bruno has published several papers on polysaccharide-based cryopreservation, ranging from molecular descriptions of structure-function relationships, formula design, biological cryopreservation, isochoric methods and mechanistic elucidations of the cryoprotective effect of large bio-based molecules. Amongst several awards, he has received the 2022 John K. Critser Award from The Society of Cryobiology, a 2021 Fulbright Research Fellowship to conduct isochoric research at the University of California-Berkeley (USA), a 2021 FLAD Research Grant and a 2021 Company of Biologists Travel Grant for the same effect. His research has been mediatically featured in Expresso (Portugal), Forbes (USA) & podcasts. His research interests are cryobiology and cryopreservation, carbohydrate polymer chemistry, heat transfer thermodynamics, ice nucleation physics, biointerfaces and molecular dynamics.
