Diana Julião is a researcher specialized in sustainable processes and material development for energy storage and environmental technologies. She earned her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Aveiro (2019), where her research, in collaboration with CICECO, REQUIMTE and GALP Energia, focused on the treatment of fossil fuels, deepening her expertise in catalytic processes and sustainable solutions. This collaboration provided her with valuable insights into integrating fundamental research with industrial applications and skilled her in advanced characterization techniques (XRD, NMR, SEM, FT-IR/Raman, UV-Vis, and GC-FID). Julião has authored 28 peer-reviewed articles and 1- book chapter (16 as first author, h-index 18, 1129 citations) and actively engages in international conferences, contributing as a reviewer for leading journals. From 2019 to 2021, Julião was part of the LAQV, where she worked in an FCT-funded project on oxidative catalytic processes and glycerol valorisation while supervising MSc and BSc students. In 2021, she joined VG CoLAB as leader of the Electrochemistry Team, where she managed several projects, including the supervision of the FCT-funded initiative 2022.04589.PTDC. Her work contributed to the development of materials for energy storage technologies, including Portugal’s first sodium-ion "coin cell," and she supervised multiple theses. Since late 2024, Julião has been the Team Leader at NET4CO2, where she leads a team working on CO2 separation and capture technologies. She is dedicated to developing solutions that promote a CO2 circular economy, with a strong emphasis on decarbonization and sustainability. Under her leadership, the team optimizes prototype designs, enhances energy efficiency, and advances critical technologies.
