Ricardo Mestre é investigador, docente universitário, compositor, cantor e trompetista. É Doutor em Média-Arte Digital pela Universidade do Algarve e Universidade Aberta, Mestre em Ensino da Educação Musical pela NOVA FCSH, Mestre em Utilização Pedagógica das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação pelo IPLeiria e Licenciado em Ensino da Educação Musical. Possui ainda pós-graduações em Film Scoring pela Academia Nacional de Orquestra e Educação Especial – Domínio Cognitivo e Motor e Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação pelo Instituto Piaget. A sua investigação centra-se na interseção entre o som, a música, a tecnologia, a arte e a experiência humana, desenvolvendo abordagens interdisciplinares que articulam criação artística, investigação e educação. É autor do conceito Sound Instance, um enquadramento conceptual que propõe o som como representação da identidade pessoal, bem como de Sound Portraits, uma aplicação artística e metodológica deste modelo. Atualmente é docente universitário no Instituto Piaget do Sul e no ISEC Lisboa, onde leciona nas áreas da Educação Musical e da Didática das Expressões, investigador no Centro de Estudos em Música (CESEM) e no Centro de Investigação em Artes e Comunicação (CIAC). He holds a PhD in Media and Digital Arts from the University of the Algarve and Universidade Aberta, a Master’s degree in Music Education from NOVA FCSH, a Master’s degree in the Pedagogical Use of Information and Communication Technologies from IPLeiria, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. He also holds postgraduate qualifications in Film Scoring from the National Academy of Orchestra and Special Education – Cognitive and Motor Domain, and in Information and Communication Technologies from the Piaget Institute. His research focuses on the intersection between sound, music, technology, art and the human experience, developing interdisciplinary approaches that bring together artistic creation, research and education. He is the creator of the ‘Sound Instance’ concept, a conceptual framework that proposes sound as a representation of personal identity, as well as ‘Sound Portraits’, an artistic and methodological application of this model. He is currently a university lecturer at the Instituto Piaget do Sul and at ISEC Lisbon, where he teaches in the fields of Music Education and the Pedagogy of the Expressive Arts, and a researcher at the Centre for Music Studies (CESEM) and the Centre for Research in Arts and Communication (CIAC).
