Joana Filipe Monteiro holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from University of Beira Interior (2013-2016) and a Master degree (2016-2018) in the same area. During that time she worked as a collaborator in the Hormones and Metabolism group at Health Sciences Research Centre, CICS-UBI. She joined the same group in 2017, where she did her master thesis under the supervision of Dr. Sílvia Socorro entitled "Prostate Cancer Metabolism in the Interplay of Obesity and Estrogen Actions". After that, she applied to a research fellowship at I3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde (Porto) where she joined the Chromosomal Instability and Dynamics group. Currently, Joana is a PhD student in the same group under the supervision of Dr. Helder Maiato, in the Biomedical Sciences PhD program at ICBAS - Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar -, University of Porto (2020-current). Her research interests include cell biology and medical health sciences and she is now interested in dissecting the tubulin code during cell division and its implications on cancer.
