PT: Professor Associado com Agregação da Universidade do Minho. Leciona no Departamento de Informática principalmente unidades curriculares relacionadas com Bioinformática e Aprendizagem Máquina/ Ciências de Dados, sendo também o DIretor do Curso de Mestrado em Bioinformática, que co-fundou em 2007. É investigador integrado do Centro de Engenharia Biológica, onde lidera o grupo de investigação em Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (mais de 15 membros atualmente), tendo sido/ sendo investigador responsável de 12 projetos de investigação e tendo participado em mais de outros 25 projetos como membro da equipa. É autor de mais de 280 publicações em conferências e revistas internacionais com revisão por pares. Orientou 25 teses de Doutoramento finalizadas (7 atualmente em curso) e mais de 100 dissertações de Mestrado. Foi Diretor do Centro de CIências da Tecnologia da Computação (2010-2013) e membro eleito do Conselho Científico da Escola de Engenharia (2019-2025). Foi ainda (2021-2024), o Presidente eleito do Conselho de Administração da Associação BPI4DAB (BioData.pt) e é membro (representante científico) do Board do ELIXIR. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EN: He is an Associate Professor with Habilitation from the University of Minho, where he lectures in the Department of Informatics mainly subjects related to Bioinformatics and Machine Learning/ Data Sciences, being also the Director of the MSc in Bioinformatics, a degree he co-founded in 2007. He is a senior researcher at the Centre of Biological Engineering, where he leads the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology group (over 15 members). He is/has been the PI of 12 research projects, and he has also participated in more than 25 projects as a team member. He is the author of over 280 papers in internacional peer-reviewed conferences and journals. He supervised 25 PhD theses (concluded), 7 on-going) and over 100 master theses. He was the Director of the CCTC research centre at U. Minho (2010-2013) and an elected member of the Scientific Council of the School of Engineering (2019-25). He was President of the Board of the BIP4DAB (BioData.pt) Association (2021-2024) and is a member (scientific representative) of the ELIXIR board.
