Olívia Ribeiro is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences (FCH) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) and a Collaborating Researcher at the William James Center for Research (WJCR), ISPA - Instituto Universitário. She holds a PhD in Psychology, with a specialization in Developmental Psychology, from ISPA - Instituto Universitário (WJCR). She also completed a pre-Bologna MSc in Psychopathology and Clinical Psychology and a pre-Bologna degree in Psychology (Clinical Psychology specialization) at ISPA - Instituto Universitário. She has authored 24 articles in peer-reviewed journals, organized 4 scientific events, and participated in 28 academic events. She has received 3 awards and honors. Throughout her career, she has been involved in several research projects, including as a PhD fellow (1 project), research fellow (2 projects), and researcher (3 projects). Her work is situated within the field of Social Sciences, with a focus on Psychology. She has collaborated with 82 co-authors in scientific publications. Her main research interests focus on the implications of social withdrawal for adjustment difficulties in social contexts, including peer exclusion, victimization, and aggression, as well as internalizing problems such as depression, anxiety, and loneliness. She is particularly interested in examining the links between loneliness and adolescents’ difficulties in peer relationships and family dynamics. Her research aims to further explore the distinctiveness of loneliness in relation to social withdrawal, identifying different forms of loneliness, as well as its predictors, developmental trajectories, and outcomes.
