Sofia Gomes

Sofia Gomes is currently an associate professor with habilitation in the Department of Economics and Management at the Portucalense University (UPT) of Porto and an adjunct professor at the Higher Institute of Business and Tourism Sciences (ISCET). She holds a PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Santiago de Compostela (2013) and a PhD in Strategic Management and International Business from the University of Seville (2025). A university lecturer since 2004, she teaches undergraduate, master's, and doctoral courses in finance and economics. She serves as the Coordinator of the PhD in Business Sciences at Portucalense University. She worked for 10 years as a financial risk analyst at a Portuguese bank. She is an integrated researcher at REMIT - Research in Economics, Management and Information Technologies, and the coordinator of the research line "Territories and Organizations for Sustainable Development" (TODS) at REMIT. Member of the Editorial Board of Business Strategy and the Environment (Wiley), International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (SAGE), and Journal of Policy Research in Tourism, Leisure & Events (Taylor and Francis). She has dozens of publications in peer-reviewed journals and serves as a reviewer for several journals. Her research interests focus mainly on entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability and the circular economy.
