Eva Pinho graduated in Applied Biology by the Biology Department of University of Minho in 2007. Two years later she obtained her master¿s degree in Environmental Management by the Biological Engineering Department of the same institution. In 2010, Eva Pinho start her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB, Braga) and Centre for Textile Science and Technology (2C2T, Guimarães) from University of Minho and Centre for Materials Research & Innovation, Bolton University (UK). After concluding her PhD (July 2014), she worked at Success Gadget, Nanotecnologia e Novos Materiais, Lda as Research and Development Engineer. In 2017, she became a postdoctoral fellow at 2C2T. Currently, Eva Pinho is and assistant research at INIAV - National Institute for Agrarian and Veterinary Research, working on NAM4Toxins: De novo selection of toxin-specific aptamers using nucleic acid mimics (NAMs). Her focus is aptamers development with NAMs, exploring their potential as tools for food safety and animal health. She is responsible for project management and team co-supervision. It is important to stress out that Eva Pinho is currently part of one of the few teams in the world working with NAM aptamers, a new and exciting area. Eva Pinho published 22 original peer reviewed papers in international journals (13 as 1st author/corresponding author) with an accumulated impact factor of 45 over 850 citations and H-index of 12. Some of her 1st-author papers were published in high-end specialty journals in the field of Materials Science (Journal of Materials Chemistry B or Critical Reviews in Biotechnology). Eva Pinho was/is involved in multidisciplinary projects with several research centres (Leicester School of Pharmacy, IPB, CEB, 2C2T, Fibernamics, ALICE) and industry (Success gadget, Nanotecnologia e Novos Materiais, ASL-Controlvet, SojaProtugal). To the date, she supervised 2 PhD student, 10 master students and was part of 5 master thesis evaluation panels. She regularly acts as referee in international scientific journal and international project evaluation panels. She obtained funding to execute the project NAMShield (€700 621,23€, POCI-FEDER-069756) and NAMSal (2022.07654.PTDC) in collaboration with ALSGlobal and FEUP, respectively. Eva Pinho participates/participated as a researcher in funded projects (17/SI/2019- 69756 (PI) FCT_128_596771122, POCI-01-0145-FEDER-028659, PTDC/CVT-CVT/4620/2021, NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000015,PTDC/SAU-MIC/119069/2010,PTDC/AGR-ALI/64662/2006). Eva Pinho is, also, the chairman of the General Meeting Board from ANICT (National Association of Researchers in Science), a member of Grupo Nacional de Apoio à Discussão (GNAD) Horizonte Europa and Cientific Consel of INIAV. As complementary professional qualification, she has participated in several technical trainings (FPIF, Integrate Management Systems,HACCP,REACH,BPR).
