Pierre Falson (PF) is a CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) 1st Class Research Director, specialist of membrane proteins involved in translocation processes. Sine 2016 PF leads the Drug Resistance & Membrane Proteins group in the CNRS - Lyon 1 University shared laboratory at the IBCP (Institut de Biologie et Chime des Protéines). PF studied the yeast F1-ATPase during his PhD (Lyon 1984-88) followed by a UE-Post-doc in Belgium (Louvain-la-Neuve 1988-89) (>10 publications). In 1991 was awarded by the Maurice Nicloux Award received from French society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Lyon for his contribution on the F1-ATPase study. PF was recruited at the CNRS as Research Officer in 1989 and joined the CEA (Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique) where he studied the rabbit Calcium transporting ATPase and the human red cell anion exchanger (>20 publications, PNAS 1996). PF joined the IBCP in 2006 where he focused on the function and structure of multidrug ABC exporters, the setup of inhibitors and the stabilization of membrane proteins in detergents solution for structural purposes (>50 publications, 9 patents 3 licenses, PNAS 2013, Angewandte Chemie Int 2018). In 2011 PF co-founded CALIXAR, a start-up devoted to the extraction and stabilization of membrane proteins and was awarded by the “National competition of innovative start-ups” together with the Innovation and Transfer Technology prize from the University of Lyon. So far, Pierre Guy Falson. Published 114 articles in journals and 9 patents, with 3 licenses.
