Before joining CES he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, NOVA University of Lisbon (IHMT/NOVA), where he implemented the Research Fairness Initiative (RFI), focused on research partnerships in global health. His work has been published in journals such as Public Understanding of Science, Minerva, Globalization and Health and Nanoethics. He has taught a wide range of courses at the University of Exeter, the University of Coimbra, IHMT/NOVA, the Coimbra School of Education and the University School of Arts of Coimbra. He has extensive research experience in science and technology studies, sociology of science and history of science and technology. Since 2006 he has collaborated on numerous national and international research projects on topics such as nanotechnologies, nuclear energy, science policy, the Anthropocene and research ethics. His current research interests include the Anthropocene, public engagement with science, technology and the environment, mindfulness, affect and more-than-human methodologies.
