Nguyen Ngoc Xuan Hoa (NNXH) is currently a second-year PhD student in Textile Engineering at the University of Minho (Uminho) and a young researcher at the 2C2T. She actively contributes to the R&D project “GreenAuto: Green Innovation for the Automotive Industry” (Ref. GreenAuto/2C2T-01/2023) as a Research Fellow. Her PhD thesis work plan is “A Physics-Informed Hybrid FEM-GNN Framework for Multiscale Design and Optimization of Auxetic Woven Structures in Automotive Airbag System”. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Textile and Garment Engineering from Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) in 2011 and pursued a Master's degree in Textile Material Technology at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) one year later. Throughout her studies and after earning her Master’s degree in 2014, she gained around seven years of experience in the textile industry, holding roles from staff to manager, including country representative for a German textile company in Vietnam when I was 26 years old. Despite balancing work and study, she consistently excelled academically, ranking in the top five of her bachelor’s program, achieving the highest thesis score in Textile Engineering, and graduating with the top GPA in her master’s program. Her achievements earned her multiple academic scholarships. Since 2015, NNXH has been a lecturer at IUH and a guest lecturer at HCMUT. During her tenure at IUH, she received multiple awards and certificates of merit from both the university and the Ministry of Industry and Trade for her outstanding achievements in teaching and research. She has led and participated in various research projects, notably managing the project "Research on splitting methods of pineapple fiber from pineapple leaves as raw materials for the production of pineapple/cotton blended yarn on a ring spinning system." Her academic contributions include co-authoring three journal articles published in nationally and internationally recognized journals, one conference paper, two conference posters, and six conference abstracts, and delivering oral presentations at AUXDEFENSE 2022 and YSC 2020. Beyond academia, she has actively contributed to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s textile and garment sector. She has worked as a member of the scientific consulting and technology assessment teams for the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, as a textile expert at the Vietnam Cleaner Production Centre Co., Ltd, and as an independent consultant for several textile and garment companies in Vietnam. Her consultancy efforts have supported over ten small and medium-sized knitting enterprises in Vietnam to enhance their operations and growth. In early 2024, she began her PhD in Portugal under the GreenAuto research scholarship, leaving her job and family to pursue academic advancement. Over the past year, she has actively contributed to the project and achieved notable scientific outputs, including co-authoring a Q2 journal article, two accepted Scopus-indexed conference papers, one extended abstract, and one oral presentation at the 4th World Conference on Advanced Materials for Defense (AUXDEFENSE 2024). Additionally, she has had two extended abstracts accepted for the 7th International Conference on Natural Fibers (ICNF 2025) and two abstracts accepted for the Autex 2025 World Conference (AUTEX 2025). In June, she will have oral presentations at both AUTEX 2025 in Germany and ICNF 2025 in Lisbon.
