Miguel Guedes holds a Master degree in Biopharmaceutical Sciences recently attributed by the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon and Bachelor degree in Marine Biology and Biotechnology attributed by the Polytechnic of Leiria, School of Tourism and Maritime Technology. He is currently performing clinical molecular diagnostics and COVID-19 diagnosis tests / Data analysis at Cintramédica Clinics. Previously, he was involved in scientific research projects focused in RNA, Gene Expression and Neurodegenerative disorders, developed in competitive R&D institutions such as Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (Maria Carmo Fonseca laboratory) and MARE - IPLeiria. With a background focused on these two main domains, he has acquired a variety of skills and techniques valuable for these thematics, such as as CRISPR; manipulation of gene expression; RT-PCR and qPCR; fluorescent microscopy; cell culture and microbiology techniques; immunochemistry/immunoassay (Clinical immunology); ELISA; Western Blots; antioxidant and cell viability assays and basic bioinformatical skills, among many others. His work has already contributed for two publications as a co-author in peer review scientific journals with Q2 score, and participation in international congresses in marine biotechnology with oral communication and conference publications.
