Luanna Maia holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering Sciences and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, both completed at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 2020 and 2022, respectively. During her Master's, she developed her dissertation on the reconfiguration of refinery systems toward net-zero carbon emissions, and completed an internship at Air Liquide Healthcare, where she developed a computational tool to support quality-control procedures for medicinal gases. After completing her MSc, she joined CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials (University of Aveiro) as a research fellow, contributing to the NEXTRA project, where she investigated the aging behavior of transformer insulating oils, leading to the publication "Study of furanic compounds sorption behavior in transformers' insulating materials" in the Journal of Molecular Liquids (2025). She is currently a research fellow at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), within the H2Driven Green Agenda project, in collaboration with LEPABE – Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy, focusing on the simulation and modeling of reactor concepts for the direct CO2 hydrogenation to methanol, and developing her competences in catalytic reactor design, process intensification, and sustainable energy systems. In parallel, she collaborated on studies on the valorization of polymers from multilayer plastic packaging waste using solvent-based separation processes, resulting in the publication "Polyethylene recovery from multilayer plastic packaging waste" in Polymers (2026). She has actively disseminated her research at international and national scientific conferences, including ECCE 15, CIBIQ, and the XXIX Encontro Luso-Galego de Química.
