Sara Correia is an integrated PhD member of CICS-UBI (now RISE-Health, UBI), an Assistant Researcher of the Hormones and Metabolism research group and an Invited Assistant Professor of the University of Beira Interior. Her research line encompasses reproductive biology and carcinogenesis of reproductive organs, focusing mainly on the mechanisms that drive male (in)fertility. In recent years, Correia S.' efforts have been directed at elucidating the mechanisms that control germ cell survival and death. More recently, her research interests have centred on the actions of endocrine disruptors leading to pathologies of the reproductive system, such as testicular and prostate cancer. Her research activity resulted in the publication of 43 articles in peer-reviewed journals and several communications in national and international scientific meetings (813 total citations by 642 documents, h-index 19). She has been a referee for renowned peer-reviewed journals, e.g. Human Reproduction and Reproduction (https://publons.com/author/1178856/sara-carina-de-lima-correia). Sara Correia has academic experience collaborating in teaching activities of the 1st and 2nd cycle of studies in Biomedical Sciences, namely in the Molecular and Cellular Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology II, and Reproductive Biology courses. She has also participated as a jury member in the exam committee for undergraduate students. Besides the dedication to her research activity, Sara Correia has been involved in advanced training, supervising MSc and PhD students. Also, she has been committed to the initiation of undergraduate/MSc students to research, as a tutor in the International Scientific Exchange Program of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA), and as a member of the Scientific Integration Sunset, a social/scientific event welcoming students at CICS-UBI. Science communication and outreach activities also deserve attention. She has been a member of the CICS-UBI Communication & Image coordination, participating in the organisation and coordination of several events. At CICS-UBI, in the last years, she has assumed several coordination roles, being vice-coordinator of the research group Hormones and Metabolism and member of the Executive Committee.
