Marc Fernandez Morron completed his PhD in Biology in 2018 by Universidade dos Açores (Portugal) and his bachelor (5-years) in Marine Sciences in 2006 by Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain). He is a Postdoc in Agência Regional para o Desenvolvimento da Investigação Tecnologia e Inovação (ARDITI) and an active member of MARE-Madeira. Published 21 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 15 of them in Q1 journals, 4 as first author and 6 as the second author, both in specialized journals and generalists journals. Established (together with Dr José Azevedo) a long term data collection program in the Azores (since 2009 and still working) based on citizen science and published 1 dataset at OBIS/GBIF. He participated in 2 book chapters and led a public-oriented book on cetacean divulgation in the Azores. Marc organized 3 scientific events, including international workshops with top renowned worldwide scientists. Participates as invited lecturer in several MsC level courses, such as teaching ecological modelling in the Master Research Programme on Climate Change & Marine Sciences of the University of Cabo Verde, a WASCAL program recognized as Decade Project in the framework of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. He co-supervised/supervises 5 works of BSc course completion, 4 MSc dissertations and 1 PhD thesis. Participated and/or participates in 10 research projects, 1 as PI and 1 as co-PI. He has received 1 award. His works and activities have been widely disseminated in newspapers, radios, TV and other media types (including an interview on a documentary available at Netflix). Works in the areas of Natural sciences with emphasis on Biological Sciences, Marine Biology and Oceanography. His research is focused on ecological modelling, especially on understanding biodiversity Spatio-temporal patterns and distributions. He also has experience in data analysis, citizen science and long term data series.
