To explore my interest in science and research, in 2013, I enrolled Environmental Sciences and Technology bachelors at the Faculty of Sciences of Porto University (FCUP). After successfully finishing in 2016, I enrolled in Environmental Toxicology and Contamination Masters between the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) and FCUP. My master thesis entitled “Toxicity of mixtures of cyanobacteria and microplastics in aquatic organisms” led to a poster presentation at the 4th International Congress on Occupational and Environmental Toxicology (ICOETOX 2018) and an oral presentation at University of Porto Youth Investigation Meeting (IJUP 2019). After starting my professional career, I had a training period at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR), where I was able to learn isolation and identification of cyanobacteria techniques and helped the Blue Biotechnology and Ecotoxicology Culture Collection (LEGE-CC) team, leading to a co-authorship in a poster presentation entitled “Blue Biotechnology and Ecotoxicology Culture Collection (LEGE-CC): A whole new world to explore and discover” at Microbiology and Biotechnology Congress 2019 (Microbiotec19 Congress). In my scientific professional path, I stayed at the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) in Faculty of Biotechnology of Portuguese Catholic University and later in CIIMAR. At CBQF, I was awarded two research grants, one in the project “ALGAVALOR.: MicroALGAs: produção integrada e VALORização da biomassa e das suas diversas” project, during which I published a chapter with two colleagues, all as first authors, and the second one in the project “Campyfree: Estratégias de controlo de Campylobacter em carne de aves e produtos cárneos derivados”. At CIIMAR, I was hhired by the international POCTEP Interreg project “BLUEBIOLAB – Laboratório Transfronteiriço de Biotecnologia Marinha”, in which I was responsible for the communication of the project where I managed among others, the website and social media, including the production of newsletters. I mobilized to two partner groups, and organized the “Final Event BLUEBIOLAB” at CIIMAR. Within this project I had the opportunity to have short training periods at some partners universities in Spain: Institute of Aquaculture-University of Santiago de Compostela and Marine Investigations Institute-Spanish National Research Council, that led to a presentation of a pitch and a poster entitled “Anti-viral potential of cyanobacterial fractions: In vitro and in vivo”. I had the opportunity to attend to some congresses, symposiums and workshops such as Microplastics – 1st Portuguese congress (Porto, 2016), III Analytical Chemistry Symposium – alternative technologies for pharmaceutical’s removal from water (Aveiro, 2017), Meeting on Health, Environment and Work (Porto, 2017), Blue Think Conference - Share Science, Spread Knowledge (online, 2021) and in Food Lipidomics and Marine Lipidomics sessions of the 10th Workshop in Lipidomics (online, 2022). During my academic and professional paths, I developed skills in different areas of investigation such as ecotoxicology, microbiology and food safety, biotechnology for aquaculture purposes, bioactive compounds and cellular culture.
