Currently, Emanuel Carlos is a Research group leader of Flexible and Sustainable Electronics at CENIMAT|i3N, Local PI of INNOVATION (international level), co-PI of 3 projects at national (GAMBIT, PRR R2U and BE.NEUTRAL) and another at international level (SUPERIOT). He finished his PhD in 2021 in Nanotechnologies and Nanosciences, NOVA University Lisbon. He has been working in solution-based metal oxide electronics since 2015, focusing on sustainable materials and printing technologies (inkjet, flexographic and screen printing) for electronic devices. His work involves the design, deposition, and characterization of solution-based metal oxide thin films and 2D materials, fabrication, and characterization of electronic devices (transistors, memristors, diodes, among others) and functional films (thermocromics) on flexible substrates. He is co-author of > 20 (9 as the first author) peer-reviewed papers (h-index=17, 1426 citations, October 2024, source: Google scholar) in high-impact journals and 4 book chapters in this area. He is currently working in national (TORIS, GAMBIT, PRR R2U and BE.NEUTRAL) and international (INFRACHIP, SUPERIOT and TERRAMETA) research projects.

2021/09/05 - 2021/09/12 I went to Laboratoire des Matériaux et du Génie Physique (LMGP) in the project scope FCT/Acordo Pessoa 2019/20 to participate in collaboration and displacement between young researchers. The goal was to deposit solution-based aluminum oxide thin films produced by solution combustion synthesis to stabilize the transparent electrodes based on silver nanowires under thermal and electrical stress.
