Rita B. Santos completed her in PhD in Biology - Biotechnology in 2018 by Universidade Nova de Lisboa at Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica. Since 2019, she is a Post-Doc Researcher at Grapevine Pathogen Systems Lab at Universidade de Lisboa Faculdade de Ciências. As a plant biochemist/biotechnologist, her research interests are to understand the role of plant proteome and secretome in plant-pathogen interactions and in the molecular mechanisms that trigger the plant's defense. She is presently focused on unravelling protein-protein interactions, mainly involving plant proteases, in the grapevine-downy mildew pathosystem model, using biotechnology approaches. Rita has published 18 articles and two book sections. She has supervised three MSc dissertations and co-supervised another three MSc students. She is the PI of a BioISI internal project and has participated as Co-PI in one FCT funded project. She has also been involved in several national and international projects during her PhD studies and as a Post-Doc.
