Ana Aguiar began her research career at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto, in September 2015 and is a member of the Epidemiology of mycobacteria infection, HIV, and other sexually transmitted infections Laboratory. She graduated in Educational Sciences from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto in 2013. In 2015, she completed a Masters's Degree in Health Education at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. Since September 2015, she started to work in the field of infectious diseases (namely HIV, viral hepatitis and tuberculosis) in different projects at ISPUP. In 2020 she was granted an individual FCT Scholarship to conduct a PhD in Public Health, at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, with the aim of studying the psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and respective confinement measures as also individual and socio environmental-related determinants of mental health during this crisis. Since September 2022 she is Assistent Professor at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Porto. Amongst the previous and current experience, she highlights the work at the Community Based Screening Network Project; at the FCT project URBANTB "From symptoms to diagnosis of disseminated respiratory tuberculosis in an urban context, considering individual and contextual factors. What are the critical points of this delay" and, being part of a big project from Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie in the field of Tuberculosis. Her research interests lie in the epidemiology of tuberculosis, COVID-19, and its psychological impact, especially in the frequently called most-at-risk groups.
