In 2021, I graduated from the University of Algarve with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences. During this program, I completed my final project in Professor José Bragança's lab. The experience sparked my interest in science and led me to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Molecular Biology and Microbial Science, which I finished in 2024. For my MSc thesis, I started my research at Professor Inês Araújo's lab, situated at the Algarve Biomedical Center Research Institute (ABC-RI). My project centred on exploring the role of S-nitrosylation of several proteins in aSyn aggregation and toxicity in SH-SY5Y cells. Throughout my research journey, I became proficient in a wide range of techniques, including cell culture, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, and cell transfection. During my master’s degree, I undertook a research internship at the same lab for the same project as my thesis. In 2024 I received an award for best oral communication. Throughout the thesis, I organised 5 event(s) and participated in 2 event(s). In October of 2024, I entered the PhD programme in Biomedical Sciences at the Algarve University.
