JOÃO PEDRO FAUSTINO DOS SANTOS

Holder of the UNESCO Chair of Arts and Cultural Management, Cities and Creativity, Polytechnic University of Leiria, since 2023. Dean of the Caldas da Rainha School of Art and Design - Polytechnic University of Leiria (ESAD.CR), Portugal, between 2016 and 2025. Lecturer and artist. Doctorate in Visual Arts and Intermedia - Drawing, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, 2012, with the thesis "Estudio teórico-práctico de la Camera Obscura y de la Camera Lucida. Una nueva propuesta de máquina de dibujo digital". (A theoretical and practical study of the Camera Obscura and the Camera Lucida. A new proposal for a digital drawing machine). The main areas of interest are related to the act of seeing and drawing, the use of drawing machines or other displays such as tracing, and exploring the possibilities of digital mediation of and on drawing. Another area of interest is drawing materials and their relationship to the processes and production of drawing. As an artist, I've been exhibiting my work regularly since 1990. I coordinated the creation of LIDA (Design and Arts Research Lab) / ESAD.CR - Polytechnic of Leiria, which I directed between 2015 and 2020.) Since 2023 I am the leader of the Communication, Dissemination and Impact work package of the Regional University Network - European University. Since 2024, I am the (interim) Communication Manager of RUN-EU, member of its Executive Board and Central Management Team. Expert of the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture in 2015 and 2025. Member of a9)))), an interdisciplinary collective/association based in Leiria, Portugal, since 2007.
