Francesca Cancelliere is a psychologist of childhood and development. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Anthropology at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisbon) and member of the “Italian Ethnological Mission in Sub-Saharan Africa” of the University of Turin. Her Ph.D. research concerns HIV positive children and adolescents in Maputo (Mozambique) and how politics of adherence to antiretroviral therapy shape youth’s life. She is also part of the Integra project “Between Biomedicine and Local Therapies: Cross-Views on Mental Health in Mozambique,” led by the University of Lisbon, the University of Turin, and the University of Maputo. She is actually coordinating the Medical Anthropology Young Scholars Network (MAYS-EASA). Her multidisciplinary approach encompasses the fields of anthropology and ethnopsychology and her research interests concern medical and psychological anthropology, anthropology of childhood and disability, mental health and migration studies.
