I obtained Masters (2018) degree from the University of Algarve in Marine Biology. For the Master thesis, I had the opportunity to go to CICESE and UABC in Mexico for 3 months to preform two ecophysiological resilience experiments of giant kelp in response to thermal stress and learn kelp gametophyte cultivation techniques. This work continued in CCMAR Algarve, in BEE group where I preformed the thermal ecophysiological experiments on gametophytes and next generation juvenile sporophytes for my Master thesis, awarded Best Presentation in MARES conference 2016. This trial and error on kelp cultivation and ecophysiological experiments greatly increased my biology, ecophysiology and cultivation skills. This knowledge was fundamental for my next academic step, the PhD (2024), where I assessed the intraspecific variability on the response of two Atlantic kelp species to marine heat waves scenarios, including field adults, gametophytes and next generation F1 sporophytes integrated in MARFOR project (BIODIVERSA/0004/2015). I also contributed to 3 other parallel works (Baptista et al., 2018: Martins et al., 2022; Liboureau et al., 2023) and published one chapter of my PhD (Strasser et al., 2022). I participated in restoration projects including RestoreSeas (DivRestore/0013/2020) collaborating in seagrass restoration programs and more recently coordinating the Cascais Municipality kelp restoration project. This project includes maintenance of gametophyte cultures, laboratory and integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) sporophyte cultivation and a final transplant and monitorizations of the experimental setup. Since 2022, I coordinated all steps of this project, from the conceptual idea to culture and field work or meetings with stakeholders and the municipality. This project is part of the CCMAR Biobank team portfolio which I´m a part of since 2023 as a Junior researcher, that aims to preserve marine biodiversity, focusing on ecologically and economically important Portuguese macroalgal species with strong potential for restoration and/or aquaculture (PRR-Portuguese Blue biobank - Ref: C644915664-00000026). I directly supervised 3 BSc, 4 master thesis, 6 traineeships for International Students and 5 laboratory practical courses in UALG/CCMAR and lectured UALG Marine botanic BSc practical classes in 2023 and 2024 for > 90 students each year.
