Graduated in Biology by the University of Lisbon (2005) he dedicated himself to a research career focused on the ecology and behavior of birds. In 2008, he specialized in Ethology (ISPA) and completed his PhD at the University of Coimbra in 2013, studying shearwaters in the remote Selvagens Islands. Among his main research topics was the feeding ecology of seabirds and gulls, as well as the interaction between seabirds and fisheries, having also worked with other groups of birds, such as passerines and steppe birds. As a postdoctoral researcher, he was associated with CIBIO-InBio, MARE and FCUL, having collaborated in several research projects and environmental impact studies, and developed work with GIS and trophic web modeling. Along his career, he collaborated on numerous conservation projects and bird monitoring programs. Currently working at the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA), he is responsible for data analysis, database management and cartography. Since 2018 he is also the national coordinator of the Common Breeding Bird Census. More recently, he has been involved in monitoring exotic bird species and developing various citizen science initiatives.
