Brígida Teixeira holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the School of Engineering of the Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP), completed in November 2014 and November 2019, respectively. Her Master’s thesis, entitled “Multi-Agent Systems Society for the Study of Energy and Power Systems,” focused on promoting semantic interoperability between heterogeneous systems through multi-agent technologies. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, specializing in Intelligent Systems, at the University of Salamanca, Spain. Her doctoral research, entitled “Explainable Contextual Models for Automated Machine Learning in Power and Energy Systems,” explores the use of recent advances in Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to develop contextual and explainable models for automated machine learning applied to energy systems. This research aims not only to support user interaction with power and energy systems through interpretable models but also to improve the learning process of automated systems by leveraging explanations to identify and interpret mismatches between expected and observed model outcomes. Her doctoral research has been developed within the scope of the Research Group in Engineering and Intelligent Computing for Innovation and Development (GECAD) at ISEP, a research unit evaluated as Excellent by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), and in collaboration with the Bioinformatics, Intelligent Systems and Educational Technology (BISITE) Research Group at the University of Salamanca. Throughout her research career, she has contributed to numerous national and international research and innovation projects in the areas of intelligent energy systems, smart grids, and renewable energy markets. These include projects such as MAS-Society, focusing on semantic interoperability in multi-agent systems for complex energy systems; TradeRES, dedicated to designing new market mechanisms for a highly renewable European power system; DOMINOES, aimed at developing advanced operational models and services for smart distribution grids; DREAM-GO, which addressed demand response and real-time intelligent simulation for smart grid operation; and PRECISE, focusing on cyber-physical solutions with explainable semantic learning for power and energy systems. More recently, she has been involved in projects such as MAST, Greencode, and MIKADO. As a result of her scientific activity, she has authored 41 scientific publications, including 10 articles in international scientific journals and 31 papers in international conferences. She also contributes to academic teaching as an Invited Assistant at the School of Engineering of the Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP), where she has been teaching since 2020.
