Diana C. Silva completed in 2020 a PhD under the Advanced Materials and Processing program, by University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior Técnico. In 2023 she placed 1ft in the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus (CEEC) 5th Edition securing a Junior Investigator position. Diana has published 22 peer-reviewed papers with over 500 citations (SCOPUS) and has presented her work at more than 30 international conferences. In 2021, she won the Best Oral Presentation award at the 5th International Congress of CiiEM. She was also invited as the main speaker for Investigation Week at IPP. She co-chaired the 1st Bioengineering Seminar (IPP) and was part of the organising committee for ORBITAL World Café and of IBERTRIB2022. She has been a member of the scientific committee for several special issues and conferences from the Controlled Release Society. Diana's main research work has been developed in the biomaterial's field, namely in drug release, material's characterisation, surface modification and interaction with biomolecules. She masters several advanced characterisation techniques, namely atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, rheometery, goniometery, quartz crystal microbalance, differential scanning calorimetry and mechanical testing. She also dominates several sterilisation procedures and related biological analysis (e.g., microbiological tests, sterility tests, cytotoxicity). To date (July 2025) she has 3 papers in submitted and 1 in preparation, regarding biomaterials and drug release.
