Ana Catarina Antunes completed her Master Degree in Molecular Genetics and Biomedicine on 13-12-2012 at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Her thesis was about the evaluation of genetic damage induced by exposure to ionizing radiation in the Portuguese population. She developed her work in radiobiology field, using cytogenetic techniques applied to biological dosimetry. Complementing this, acquired knowledge in radiological protection and preparedness of response in case of nuclear emergencies, by working in European projects and networks such as UPCAST, CAThyMARA and RENEB both related with response to emergencies and biodosimetry. Currently, she is working as a member of outreach group of Centro de Ciências e Tecnologias Nucleares (C2TN), promoting and disseminating research activities, with the goal of increasing visibility of the C2TN in the social media and potentiate the public engaging with science, namely in the field of ionizing radiation and its applications. She is responsible to update and feed information to C2TN's website, blog and social media. Her scientific background and science communication experience allow her to also be responsible for the production of content to be disseminated as well as the edition of material produced by others. She also plays a key role in the organization of events, seminars and workshops at C2TN.
